POSITION OVERVIEW
The United States District Court for the Central
District of California is recruiting for the
position of Court Reporter Panel Member. The Court
Reporter Panel Member performs court reporting
services for any judicial proceeding as may be
required. The position requires the ability to
record verbatim testimony of courtroom proceedings,
to read back all or any portions of the court
records, to work well under pressure, to produce
transcripts within strict time limitations and to
work as part of a team of reporters for the Judges
of the Court. This position may require travel to
the courthouse in Santa Ana and the courthouse in
Riverside, California.
The court reporter panel will be utilized in the
following ways:
a) as per diem contract court reporters, hired by the court on
an as-needed basis.
b) as substitute court reporters, hired by individual staff
reporters to cover their assignment(s).
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for the position, the applicant must
possess at least four years court reporting
experience in the freelance field, court, or a
combination thereof. A certificate of Registered
Professional Reporter (RPR) from the National
Shorthand Reporters Association (NCRA) is required,
or an equivalent qualifying examination certificate.
Realtime experience a plus.
